Ik denk nog heel veel terug aan Nepal, eigenlijk iedere dag

Als mensen mij vragen hoe was de reis zeg ik “fantastisch”

Ik denk niet dat ik nog zo een reis zal maken in mijn leven

Dat land en heel de reis eigenlijk hebben zo’n indruk op mij gemaakt, ik had mij dat nooit kunnen voorstellen

Voor mij is het de mix van alles die deze reis zo fantastisch gemaakt heeft :

de himalaya, de fantastische mustang excursie, het hindoeïsme, het boeddhisme, de stoepa’s, de kloosters, de koningssteden met de Kumari, de sfeer in de dorpen en de steden, het afval langs de wegen, de primitieve toiletten, de heel plezante rafting waar christiaan zijn legendarische watervrees heeft weten opzij te schuiven, de marktjes en typische winkeltjes, de onvergetelijke bus-en jeep verplaatsingen, de putten in de wegen, de altijd goed gezinde Raman, prachtig mens ook - Lakmans (?) die in alle stilte overal was waar hij nodig was, de kamikaze vrachtwagen chauffeurs, onze fantastisch goeie buschauffeur, de typische restaurants, de onvergetelijke helikopter vlucht, de safari’s zelfs zonder tijgers enz enz

en dan vergeet ik waarschijnlijk nog een aantal zaken

Vooral ook de hartelijkheid en de echt gemeende vriendelijkheid van de mensen hebben een diepe indruk nagelaten, en veel respect voor hun manier van leven in omstandigheden die ik niet zou aankunnen

Ik probeer daaruit wijze lessen te trekken en ze toe te passen, wat in de realiteit niet zo evident blijkt te zijn

Inderdaad, ik heb ook wel eens gesakkerd dat we vroeg op moesten of als er iets niet liep zoals het voorzien was en ik heb mij wel eens laten meeslepen in negativiteit, maar heb daar nu spijt van

Achteraf pas besefte ik ten volle hoe aartsmoeilijk het moet geweest zijn voor Maaike en Pramod om iedere dag alles georganiseerd te krijgen

1) met zo een diverse groep qua fysiek en met heel verschillende karakters

2) met de zieke mensen

3) de vertragingen door de slechte wegen

4) de overladen bus enz enz

Hoed af voor hen!

Service is just as good as any well-known agency in the travel industry
